The Portuguese U21 team received and won (3-2) at the Estádio António Coimbra da Mota, the hosts Italy who in 2019 welcomes the European of the category. Fernando and Pêpê, back to Amoreira, initially aligned in a preparation match for the qualifying. Diogo Jota (2) and Diogo Gonçalves (1) were the service markers in the Portuguese team. Portugal are in Group 8 of qualifying for the European Championship along with Bosnia Herzegovina, Romania, Switzerland, Wales and Liechtenstein. At the moment the Portuguese team occupy the second place of the group (with 13 points), less two than the leader Bosnia and Herzegovina, that has one more game realized.
