Estoril Praia present at the Portugal Special Olympics Games

Estoril Praia was today present at the opening ceremony of the Portugal Special Olympic Games, which took place at the Vila's Market in Cascais.
The fourth edition of the Portugal Special Olympics Games will be held from the 24th to the 27th October in the Salesianos Manique school.
Special Olympics Portugal and CERCICA are in charge of organizing this initiative, with the support of the Cascais City Hall and the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth.
For four days, the Cascais will receive 157 athletes from 18 national institutions for the promotion of sport among people with disabilities, integrating them in a suitable technical framework of competition.
In the event there will be four sports - athletics, futsal, basketball and swimming -, whose tests will take place in the Salesians Manique school, thus ensuring a student's involvement and support for the athletes.
The opening ceremony was held today at noon at Vila's Market in Cascais. This scenario was the scene of the highest moment of the day, with the arrival of Torch Run and the parade of all delegations (institutions).
Among the guests were the Secretary of State for Sport and Youth, João Paulo Rebelo, Mayor of Cascais, Carlos Carreiras, Olympic Committee Portugal, represented by Maria Machado, President of Special Olympics Portugal, José Dias Ferreira, President of CERCICA, Pedro Alarcão, and also entities that make a difference in the area of sports and people with disabilities.
