Right-back Fernando Fonseca, a U-21 international, is reinforcing the defensive line at Estoril Praia. The defender arrives at Amoreira from FC Porto and left his first words to the official website of the Magician, considering his coming to Estoril the best way to “evolve, learn and grow.”
“This is a major challenge in my life, I needed to play in the first league and Estoril is a great club to evolve, learn and grow as a person and a player,” he said. He had never worked directly with any member of the technical team, but he expects work on the maximum requirement. “I know the coach Pedro Emanuel for the respect he has achieved, for everything he has achieved in his career especially as a player and that is an incredible thing.”
On Estoril the expectations could not be better. “They told me that it is a very well organized club and with excellent conditions. To leave our comfort zone is difficult and I know that I will feel supported here to achieve what I want for myself and for the team.”
Formed in FC Porto, and at the age of 20, Fernando Fonseca has a remarkable curriculum, he was part of the Olympic Team and was called to represent the U-17, U-18 and U21 teams. For the side, this will not be a factor of great relevance. “My teammates will respect me in the same way they respect everyone else. We have to be a team, treat everyone equally and be united.”
“The claw, the race and the desire to win are the things that I stand out most in. Then I consider myself that player who never gives up on a throw in any game and who has a sense of mutual support,” he said, asking for the support of the fans in all moments. “Support the team. The help of all those who cheer for us makes it even easier to work, it’s an extra motivation”.
